Didn’t know. Some people are douchebags about it in the comments. To me recycled means has it been shown repeatedly, this is my first.

No, higher wages won’t end tips but consumers have too. I’m hoping that I can gain enough courage from this sub to not feel guilty for not tipping the cashier for taking my order. The tip screen can be disabled by the owner. It’s as easy as unchecking a box in the options menu of the POS system.

I’m all for banning tips provided the service industry earns a fair wage. Except who dictates what’s “fair”? Keep in mind if you eliminate tips and wait staff moves to minimum wage, expect prices to go up in places like Illinois where minimum wage by 2025 will be $15/hr.

I always grew up tipping was for your pizza driver, hair stylist, and your waitstaff. I will never understand why you have to tip the car wash attendant, massage therapist, or a barista. It wasn’t until I worked in service where I understood waitstaff tips the bussers and kitchen staff too. That same mindset applies to the meme. Many coffee shops will take the auto tips and pay out the staff because it’s a team effort to provide a good service. However, why are we tipping people who are hourly, is beyond me. I should not feel guilty for people. I worked hard in my career to get where I’m at to just give money away to people who figuratively speaking have their hand out.

What is the price of something you’d buy in Seattle where a tip is optional.

Additionally I like the sound of a market wage. Wage determination is difficult because you have people willing/not willing to do the job and then a skill set attached to the job. Some jobs don’t require a thought process while others are very intricate and deserve a competitive wage.

I don’t think your occupation should be tied to the tipper. I think the service should dictate that, unless you’re a snake lawyer. They already are charging for a service.
