Dolphin GC works fine, Wii I get a black screen Plz help!

Hi all
I have dolphin installed (up to date version) and runs gc like a dream. I have downloaded some Roms from VL (as to not advertise the site just in case it’s against the rules) so a reputable site. I have set the path to my folder but mario galaxy 2 shows as a GameCube game on the banner. When I load a Ron I get a black screen with dolphin not freezing, but me having to use the task menu to close it down. Am I missing something obvious? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks
