This song is definitely an amazing song with strong vocals even though he was in his final years of life he made sure to put all his power into a song. I was listening to the official audio from the Elvis official YouTube page that uploaded a couple days ago, and I took my time to actually listen to the lyrics for the first time and found that this song feels perfect for him.
His life is kinda said in this song, the lyrics "You may not mind that it's over but I've a different point of view even though I am shattered" sounds like Elvis and Priscilla's divorce and he is heart broken and sad but Priscilla doesn't mind that it's over.
Lyrics "You don't have to face the music You don't have to face the crowd Just go back where you came from You ain't even proud" is telling Priscilla that she didn't have to do what Elvis did 2 times a day for 7 years, she didn't have screaming fans at her he had to deal with it all and that she wasn't proud of his work that he did.
*DISCLAIMER* THESE ARE MY OPINIONS, IDK WHAT PRISCILLA OR ELVIS THOUGHT!
Lyrics "I had a wife and I had children I threw them all away And now you tell me, you dare to tell me I should go back to them What do you think I should say" I don't really know what I think of these lyrics, it's kinda like I had a wife and child but they left and now it's time to see them what shall I say. But this part was so emotional it really hit hard.
Lyrics "IÂ found it hard to leave them Saddest thing I ever had to do My problems haven't started And it's easy for you" it's like the last set of lyrics saying it's was really hard to leave Priscilla and Lisa Marie and his problems of losing them have not yet started, the pain and loneliness, and he says it easier for them to live life. Idk.
Lyrics, it's the same about the wife and children but he adds "What do you think, what on earth do you think I should say" he just doesn't know what to do.
Last set of lyrics "If you ever tire of the good life Call me in a year or two I've got no choice, I'll forgive you 'cause it's easy for you You only have to call me, it's easy for you You only have to call me, it's easy for you" these lyrics were another emotional part of the song, he goes if you ever tire of the good life call me in a year or two, hes kinda trying to get them back by hoping that they need him or something and call me back if anything goes wrong, sadly he would die a month after this songs release. He goes I got no choice I forgive you meaning that hes got nothing else he needs love again. Then he says I'm only a call away if you need me.
Well that's my opinion of the song, that was fun. Sorry about the lots of writing. If you want me to do another one of these but to a different song I'm happy to just dm me or comment below, thx!
