Was checking the PC E:D reddit for system faction and I found this post of them testing faction related stuff and from it if we indiscriminately kill the other faction outright wanted or not we should gain the influence

Update: It also seems according to the E:D wikia we have to wait 3 days after the current civil war for us to progress at all so let's finish up the current one by siding with the nationalist to kill off the Union
