Start the Odyssey tutorial

• Mission bugs out after the ground section, so I wander around the station aimlessly for 20 minutes not sure what to do
• Restart that section and it works - a bit annoying but no problem

Take an easy mission

• Not really sure what I'm doing so I take the easiest courier/transport mission I can find
• Didn't realise I can't pause in solo play, so I take a phone call right after undocking
• My ship gets blown up and I have to pay 700k to rebuy it - okay, whatever, that's stupidity tax I guess
• Spend 40 minutes getting back to my home system because I respawned in a detention centre - okay sure, extra stupid tax for me

Arrive at the mission location

• Finally arrived, I'll get out on foot and have a look around
• Accidentally draw my pistol - no idea which button to holster it
• Go into the controls to try and figure it out
• Exit controls and I'm dead, reputation is lost, and the only option is to spawn back at that detention centre 40 minutes away
• Failed the mission because I ran out of time. No idea where the timer even was.
• ALT F4

Obviously this is just a rant from frustration and I'll probably still give ED another try but this was a comically bad returning player experience. At least give me an on-screen prompt to show me which button I press to holster my weapon.

Feel free to laugh at me so there is at least some good from this.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot the part where it took three days and a support ticket to access my account due to some issue with linking my old ED account to my current steam account - though the agent did a great job of fixing it for me.
