This just happened to me last night during a stream.
I have been using the Cam Link for about two weeks with my Sony a5100 and it's been working great. I have it plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port on my motherboard and haven't ran into any issues until last night. I normally stream PC games, but last night I streamed from my switch for the first time with the Cam Link in the mix. I haven't used the HD60S and the Cam Link at the same time before. So when I started my stream, the Cam Link completely froze after about a minute of use, but the HD60S was still going and gameplay was smooth.
I thought it was OBS that was freezing, so I closed it, reopened it, started my stream again, and it was working. But the cam froze shortly after. I decided to check within the Game Capture HD Software and it was frozen there too. When I closed Game Capture HD and reopened it, the cam would work again, but then freeze after about 30 seconds this time.
I did notice that there was an update for the software, so I updated it, rebooted my computer, and tried again. Cam Link still froze.
Just to go further into testing, I quickly bought a second HD60S to use with my Sony a5100 and while using that, it didn't freeze at all. I was able to stream the rest of the night with no hiccups from the camera.
Is the Cam Link not powerful enough to drive mirrorless cameras for a long time? Or was this a bug when using the Cam Link and HD60S at the same time? I'm going to do more testing today; I have until January to return the Cam Link, which I may end up doing. I've read some older reddit posts and on the Elgato forums from other people returning their Cam Link for another HD60S or another capture device to use with their DSLR or other cameras.
Just so I don't miss anything; I did do other troubleshooting last night which includes plugging the Cam Link directly into the motherboard (without the provided short USB cable), plugging it into a USB 3.0 hub (with and without the short USB cable), and using different ports on the motherboard (USB 2.0, and USB 3.1).
