Something from the main board of my Miele washing machine (over 10 years old) is making it so not enough power is reaching this coil (blue arrow) to pull a steel rod up using a magnetic field and unlocking the door.
I know it is power-based because replacing the entire door lock unit did not fix it, but weakening the spring (red arrowhead) fixed it for several years.
It has finally gotten to the point where it can't even work with the spring weakened, so I have to look at other options. It does still make a clicking sound so it is not zero power reaching the coil, just not enough.
I cannot for the life of me find a way to access the main board of this machine where the power comes from for this coil, but is it safe to say a bad capacitor is involved, as those are usually the first components to fail?
Is it possible that I could put my own, "extra" capacitor in-line with the power wire to this coil to restore the original power level?
Is there some other way I could augment this power without accessing the main board? I am not opposed to introducing an external power source on a relay of some kind.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter, and I apologize if this is a silly question.
