Liberal candidate fartoomuchpressure was out and about knocking on doors in Halifax this afternoon following his rally earlier in the day. Here is a snippet of his interactions.
FTMP: "Hello! My name's fartoomuchpressure, I'm the Liberal candidate for Atlantic Canada"
Woman: "Yeah I know who you are, you're that fella from Québec. What are you doing here instead of there?"
FTMP: "Well, boundary changes have limited where I can stand. I decided to move to another area where I have strong ties. My mother's family is actually from Nova Scotia and I've spent a significant part of my life here."
Woman: "Alright so looks like you're not just some mail order candidate from some place else then."
FTMP: "Not at all."
FTMP moved on
FTMP: "Good afternoon, I'm FTMP from the Liberal Party. I was wondering if you had a moment to talk about the upcoming election?"
Man: "You know, man, I'm not too interested in the election right now. And no offence, but your party was a bit of mess recently."
FTMP: "Well actually, the Liberal Party is united as ever. Although there have been some defections in the past, those who remain are loyal to their consituents and I'm proud to say that I'm one of them. I served out my full term and I'm committed to serving as full term as your MP should you choose to elect me."
Man: "You know, man, I might just go out and vote this Monday. It means a lot to hear that promise direct from you."
Finally FTMP reaches the last house in the street
Woman: "Oh it's one of you. Nothing better to do on a Tuesday afternoon?"
FTMP: "As it happens, I'm not a volunteer, I'm the candidate. I'm here to encourage everyone to vote and answer their questions."
Woman: "Alright, it's good to see you outside. Since you're here, I do have a question. What will you do for the future of Canada, what can my children expect from your government?"
FTMP: "The Liberal Party has a number of policies focused toward the long term. In particular, we have policies to move towards a greener economy. We'll help create new jobs in the green sector so that there's a smooth transition into the future."
Woman: "I like the sound of that."
