When i first played an Elder Scrolls game, it was Skyrim, like many others. However, over the years, i always find myself intrigued by the Snow Elf race. Not due to being enslaved, but for the fact that the Snow Elven culture aren't that well known. So, when ESO came out, i figured "Hey, let's make a character that resembles of Elven and Nordic heritage". So, i created Auriel Ysgrim, the bastard son of Ysgramor.
His backstory is that his mother was a Snow Elven woman who lived alongside the Atmoran settlers in Saarthal. She fell in love with the great warrior known as Ysgramor, and after a night of drunken love-making, she was with child. However, after her fellow Snow Elves ransacked Saarthal and slew her lover's friends and family, she knew that even though she carried his child, Ysgramor would be blinded by blood and rage, so she packed what she could and began her journey to her ancestral home of the Summerset Isle, the current home of the High Elven people.
After many months of being on the run, she made her finally made her way to the Isles and was able to find some distant cousins who let her stay with them. After months of stress and pains of pregnancy, she finally gave birth to Auriel Ysgrim, who was named after the Snow Elven Sun God Auriel. Although the child was part Snow Elf, he somewhat resembled an Altmer due to his Atmoran skin tone and large size. In order to protect her new born son, she gave her child to her cousins for safe-keeping and disappeared.
For many years, Auriel knew he was different. Having been gifted with immense strength and magical resistance, Auriel was considered very talented in the magical arts as well. Once he finally became of age, his adopted parents revealed his true nature to him: that his mother was one of the Snow Elven people, making Auriel possibly the last Snow Elf. Believing his mother to still be alive, he gathered his things and began traveling Tamriel in hopes of finding his mother.
For many years along his journey, Auriel fought the great dragons, roamed the planes of Oblivion, and even ventured to the far north to the lands now known as Skyrim, in hopes of finding his long lost mother.
While trying to enter the harsh and cold lands of the north, Auriel stumbled his way into a hidden land, nestled between the mountains, known as the Forgotten Veil, where he came upon the presence of Knight-Paladin Gelebor, a Snow Elf, like Auriel's mother. When asked about their people, Gelebor revealed a horrible truth: the Snow Elves were nomore and that the man responsible for their extinction was not only a Atmoran warrior known as Ysgramor, but was also Auriel's birth father. Gelebor told Auriel that when Ysgramor returned with an army of Atmorans and dragons, not only did he kill the Elves responsible for the attack on Saarthal, but he aimed to kill all Snow Elves. While many died by Ysgramor and his allies' hands, a good many Elves made they're way underground and sought the help of the Dwemer, the Deep Elves, who unfortunately tricked the Snow Elves into enslavement by permanently making them blind.
