After seeing all the stuff Bethesda has shown us for Starfield, I'm conflicted. I don't it looks bad at all. But to me, it just looks like a cleaned up version of Fallout in space, visually speaking.
Although, yes, I remember when Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim came out. And each time, each game wasn't exactly the best looking game when they were released. Like, at launch, Skyrim looked fine but I felt that it didn't really wow me with it's graphics either. Sure, the environments were pretty good at the time, but everything else was kinda meh. And Fallout 4 was even more disappointing to me, especially the animations and character models.
For some reason, when I imagine TES6, I expect it to look as good as this.
Especially since we have a somewhat decent understanding of how good games could look.
So what do y'all think? Does their engine hold them back, visually? Will we ever get that hyper realistic TES game?
EDIT: I just wanted a discussion purely on graphical fidelity. Not saying it's the most important. Obviously, as a TES fan, I'm already willing to sacrifice some hyper realism for great story, environment, game systems, good mechanics, etc.
