I hate the Crucible Knight

I am severely over-leveled, allegedly the right build to kill him, and I still cannot even get him to second phase. I know I need to party but I swear to Christ it just doesn’t work. Any less honest ways to kill him?
UPDATE: Turns out if you just do that special move with the Bloodhound Fang you can essentially whittle his health down to next to nothing, then just hit him a few times and he’s dead. Fuck the Crucible Knight
