Think about it. The Souls Series already has a huge devoted fan base. DS1 & DS3 are still insanely active for their age. People just wont let go. This subreddit has 116k members right now. With just a measly cinematic trailer and nothing else in almost 2 years. I cant think of any other game launch of these proportions.

Now add one of the most prolific and coveted fantasy writers alive as co writer/headliner. With a track record of insanely popular books and TV series. This fact alone will quadruple the potential public interest and lure people into the franchise who have never touched an ARPG in their lives. They´ll feel like they can actively participate in smth like GOT.

Demons Souls was launch title for one of the biggest (and failed) next gen releases ever. Friends of mine, who never would dare to touch a Souls game because the were not "Prepared To Die", started playing it because it looked absolutely gorgeous and are now addicted, playing one NG after the other and looking into the rest of the series.

Bamco and From have a huge hit in the pipelines. And they know it. This franchise can not not succeed. And I´m willing to do a SL1 Broken Straight Sword run in all games, if there wont be a TV/streaming or even cinematic drama within 3-5 years after release. Precontracts for further developing the francise are probably already being negotiated as we speak.

In light of all that, I appreciate their obvious efforts to get everything perfectly right and take their time with production and prep for release. So regardless if the game comes out this or next year, Elden Ring will be coming to stay for a very long while.
