“Rune drop”…. What’s the deal?

Post Body

First of all; two questions.

I began Elden ring, my first play through and souls game, the day after Xmas (25 and my mom still gets me video games; couldn’t be happier.)

Elden ring is us there with Fallout 3 for my favorite play through of a video game. I’m loving ever second of it.

I joined a lot of Elden ring subs and I noticed people are asking for rune drops on help subs, and I am so curious about two things:

1) is it a scam? I will not participate no matter the response; as I feel like it would ruin the game. But I’ll see “I’ll drop u 99 lord runes for this talisman.” Let’s ignore that having those amount of runes is probs from cheating; but has anyone participated in such an exchange, and does it actually work? I’d imagine one person takes the thing first then dips.

2) why do it? It’s earning runes through discovery literally the purpose of the game?
