I don't mind getting crushed by a 2v1 or 3v1 if the people are actually playing the PvE, or at least if they are in a spot where I can run away and lure them to some enemies to even the playing field a little. But sometimes I come across people just waiting for invaders to come to some enclosed area with no enemies and no room to maneuver.
Example, 2 people in Mohg's Palace camping by the elevator right before the boss door. You take the elevator up and they're waiting there in the cramped space. There's no room to maneuver and one's spamming Moonveil and another spamming jump attacks. I can normally hold my own and avoid attacks if I can get some space but there's really very little space. They're literally just waiting there for invaders to take the elevator up to their trap, clearly not doing the boss. I got rekt.
Another example is not a gank because it's just one person, in Ancestral Woods in that temple area to the east that you have to jump down to. This person is a sorcerer who jumped down and is standing on the other side of a pond/pit that kills you if you walk over it. Once you jump down into the temple area this person is spamming tracking spells and flinging ice from the Dark Moon sword while the spells are tracking and you're trying to maneuver around the pond dodging all this shit to get to him. He killed me twice. Third time, I decided I refuse to engage this person on their terms and just sat atop the perch where you jump down from and waited to see if he'd come up to fight. He never did. I actually ended up having a blast and killing 6 consecutive blues who summoned in and one invader who just wanted a duel. I felt like a badass slaying his helpers and having all the fun while he waited down in the pond not doing anything. Eventually he died on his own, I have no idea how, maybe boredom.
Anyway, if someone is just setting a trap or passively waiting for you to engage them on terms where they have a massive upper hand, is it bad etiquette to just stay in their game and wait for help from a second invader, or to wait out their boredom? Like I'm willing to wait there and prolong their boredom if they're going to play like that. Am I the salty one? How do y'all deal with these sorts of scenarios as an invader?
