Besides 'git gud' what should I do with my death's poker build?

Right now I'm just wandering around ng 3 since all the major bosses are gone. testing out how effective my build is vs different biggies. I was in Haligtree and I just struggle with those beefy knights. They're fast enough to avoid the poker and def strong enough to beat me up. The night cavalry dudes are the same way! Since it's essentially an INT build, what would you add to the poker to compliment it? Still on base game by the way
