I posted last week looking for advice on live music and bike rental in Tallinn, and got some really helpful advice.
Turned out that the hostel we were staying at was right next to Liberty Square, where a centenary concert was held in the lovely, sunny weather. I'll remember fondly your beautiful choirs and delicious Saku! That evening was followed by some fantastic jazz in the Philly Joe's lounge...
We also visited Tartu university for a day, and although we didn't get to stay for long, I enjoyed what I saw of the city for its relaxed feel and pedestrianisation. Estonia also seems notably clean, at least compared to back in Amsterdam, where there's trash thrown everywhere! The forests and plains we drove through on the bus were cool to see too!
I attended a Sunday morning service at the Alexander Netsky cathedral, it was the first time I'd seen Orthodox Christianity in person. Really interesting to behold, I noticed that everybody stood and that the priest faced the same way as the congregation more than I remember from my trips to Catholic church as a child.
Anyway, thanks for your wonderful country and friendly, down-to-earth people! I hope to return!
