For those of you that are familiar with the routes to and from Golden, I’m looking for any suggestions for things to check out that made your vacation that much more memorable. My mother is capable of walking a level terrain with a couple of steps here and there but is not able to do steep inclines even on trails. Our initial plan is to travel down the David Thompson highway towards Lake Louise and then to golden for a few days. Eventually leaving up the glacier hwy towards jasper for a night and then east. Here are some activities/things I’ve found so far:
On route to golden: Is Nordegg historic mine worth the stop? Abraham Lake for picnic lunch for sure, possibly try fishing. Stop in Field for early dinner at Truffle Pigs Bistro and again possibly fish. (I only fish catch and release no matter where I am) I will also be buying a national Park fishing pass to those that were going to suggest
Once in Golden, this is what I’ve found so far for things to do: Northern lights wolf sanctuary
Boo the bear at Kickinghorse mountain resort
The Cedar Forest walking loop
The hemlock Grove boardwalk
Meeting of the waters trail
Takakkaw Falls in Field
Bow valley parkway towards Banff, Banff for lunch
To eat in Golden I’ve found the menus for fire pit barbeque as well as 22eleven to be very enticing.
Any suggestions to make our trip that much more memorable would be super appreciated
