Why are orgasms such a focus on edging subs?

I’ve been on Reddit for well over 4 years. One thing I’ve noticed, especially lately is posts and r4r’s seem so orgasm focused on edging subs. “Things like make me cum.” “I want to make you cum.” I get having the will power to resist and a challenge but it just seems like it’s just become another place to get off vs edging. What happened to good wholesome conversations about the act of edging? 😈😂
