Regardless of what you think of Eden, regardless of your bias, arguing that Papa has not committed crimes, and that he paid of all his reps is ridiculous.
There was a lack of communication from Eden's power structure about the reps negotiation that was currently on-going with Papa. However, that still did not excuse him of his crimes nor his commitment to pay his claims.
During the entire event we respected Mt. Augusta's laws, her constitution, and all precedents that have ever been set in her courts. While in the stand-off outside Sintralin's house we had multiple judges in our channels and we made sure that everything we were doing was permissible.
Along the line, there came a point where the bounty hunting expedition to capture Papa became an international conflict. At that time, we should have withdrawn and called in a vote to confirm Eden involvement. For that, I'd like to apologize first to Eden members, and then to the server.
Internally, we were thrown into a loop. Through this event, we've discovered issues in our mandate, issues with our members, and issues with our power structure.
All of these will, and have already begun, to be handled.
I'm willing to admit that I talk a big game about the goals of Eden, but I grew up in a version of Civcraft rampant with WP corruption. If this had happened in any other WP organization, there would have been jokes about ignoring the subreddit and then waiting for it all to blow over.
This has not been the case. The response, effort to do right, and internal discussion so far from Eden members has honestly amazed me. This whole thing is still new to me, as it is new to them, but I honestly think that there is a long way this organization can go, and grow. We still have issues to resolve but the members of striving are aiming to solve them instead of giving up and going back to an organization without accountability.
I'm obviously a huge part of the issue during this whole event. I'm going to cop out and blame it on the other groups I've been a part of, and well, where I learned to handle conflict. Luckily, times are changing and the way I handled the situation won't be tolerated within Eden anymore pls dsclouse be gentle
I'll admit I have a lot to learn still. When I started playing on Civcraft I was a newfriend, then I graduated to an unrepentant shitposter, until I finally started acting, well, my age.
This new era of accountability will require me to grow more and I'm hoping that Eden will continue outpacing me in my growth and force me to keep up.
We have more guidelines now, and a still very fractured power structure. We're trying out new precedents and putting in place new guidelines. This whole ordeal was grey-area in a lot of places and while often tested in old WP groups and in their ways, was new ground for Eden. At the end of the day, we should have pulled out much earlier than we did, or never began the fight to begin with.
Almost all of the pearls we captured were released by the Augustan courts, pending one on-going court case.
While a lot of the things I did I regret, I would still like to point out that at least until the Chanadians showed up, we were well within our rights to attack Papa. At this point though, regardless of personal grudges, I think it's time to settle up the Titan conflict and end this needless cold war.
Eden is in talks and will hopefully be able to pull off a peaceful resolution to really herald in the insane amount of peace we've had these last couple months.
