Feels like I'm stuck in limbo

My doctor suggested for me to start disability, but it seems I was denied and I'm trying to appeal it. But in the meantime, from a phone interview I just had, I'm not able to get unemployment benefits because my doctor has to release me from disability. So now I'm stuck to not receive any benefits. What kind of nightmare is this. It's been 2 weeks since I haven't gotten any money. They really just let people hang when they have bills to play.
