During Obama, the economy began to grow slowly.
When Trump was elected, the American economy stared growing faster despite all indicators and predictions (pandemic years not included). Trump gave tax breaks, incentives, and programs. The Democrats told us that all that would hurt the economy and send us into a recession.
Then Biden was elected. He cancelled some of what Trump did, closed National parkland to drilling, and shut down the pipeline. He also established or changed programs to help the American people. The Republicans told us that all that would hurt the economy and send us into a recession.
The problem is that, with the exception of the pandemic, everything in our economy grew. And it is STILL growing. No economists can tell us why. They say ‘this’ or ‘that’ is hurting America. They keep telling us that a recession is inevitable. They keep saying that the rest of the world’s economies are being crushed.
But, America’s economy is growing and growing. What I am thinking is that this has nothing to do with Trump or Biden. The reason this growth is unexplainable is because of the tenacity of the American people; THAT is driving this. The people wanted time off and were told to stay home during the pandemic. The people were told to go back to work when many were not ready afterwards. Then the people demanded more money to go back to work and got it.
Now, with everything we are being told that is working against us, our economy continues to grow. Biden banned oil drilling in our National Parks (basically shutting down much of the oil drilling in Alaska). ‘Oil prices are going to go up and never come back down.’ But we are pumping MORE oil than ever before. Yet, being the #1 exporter of oil in the world, America still bows to OPEC as the one who sets prices.
The American people will bend. They can be pushed to the brink of collapse. But they will not break. We complain, argue, and protest. Our resilience keeps us strong. Before 9/11, people questioned ‘Where is the American pride?’. They didn’t ask afterwards; it was everywhere.
What I am saying is that what is happening in America is not the result of anything Obama, Trump, or Biden did or anything the Democrats or Republicans did but the will of the American people. So many believe that it is our elected representatives that control our country. They believe this because it is what is driven into their brains by the same ones telling us that Trump or Biden ‘did this’. I read articles on both sides on this sub constantly. ‘Biden is doing ‘this’ and it will hurt America.’ ‘If Trump is elected, his plan for ‘this’ will hurt America.’ Neither are correct. Remember, for 10 years, those same people have been telling us we are going into a recession.
When the American people discover that it is them who is truly in charge of their future, everything will change. Individually, we may not seem as able to sway anything as large as the economy but, as a whole, we control everything. If Americans gun control, abortion rights, or legalization of drugs, it would happen (all of those can be debated but that is for another thread). That is why those trying to control things are doing it through the courts and not through the will of the people.
Americans are strong together. Individually, they can split us up against one another. But, as long as we stick to what we believe, our beliefs will come to a majority that will set our course in our economy and everything else. That is not good or bad and, if it IS good, there are some people that it will NOT help and will hate it. Here, we must respect that the majority rules. If that majority is wrong, it cannot be simply because ‘We THINK you are wrong’; it must be because our Constitution or state laws say that it oversteps the authority (rights) given to the individual. Everyone deserves the respect of being a human being and to not have to live by anyone’s standards other than our own. Everyone should have equal rights unless they show that they are not worthy of them (such as stealing from others, physically harming others, or murder). And everyone needs to stop listening to what we are TOLD to believe and look at the facts themselves.
