TIL of two 1820s English Peeresses who were also significant bankers. Sarah Sophia, the Countess of Jersey, of Child’s bank and Harriet Mellon Coutts, the Duchess of St Albans, of Coutts Bank.
Both inherited their interests but were active partners in the respective banks. Sarah Sophia, the Countess of Jersey even set things up so she'd retain control of her banking interests in her second marriage.
