I am hesitant to call it one of the jhanas, though I have experienced those in meditation before. I relate it to ThÃch Nhất Hạnh 's teachings regarding always practicing kindness, and some of what Eckhart Tolle says.
It came about as I was doing a Focusing exercise. I suddenly realized that joy is ever-present, and is not dependent on what I am doing. (though I still have goals)
There is a lot in Buddhist teachings about non-identification with mind and the present moment, so I thought I would ask here. My spiritual practices have incorporated Buddhism for years, so I am eager to learn more.
