Help a noob out!

Going to be starting a campaign in Eberron. This is totally new territory to me. I have settled on Rodrigo Ross a bugbear who grew up in the slums of Sharn, became a folk hero for fighting off a dire wolf that got loose in town (my DM said that the Dire Wolf was being smuggled by the Boromir clan, so I owe them now).
I know goblinoids got shafted in Eberron, but I'd like a bit more context and how that might influence a bugbear born and raised in Sharn but his parents are from Doraam.
