Hi guys! I was the guy asking about Warforged and potentially DM'ing an Eberron campaign set during the Last War.
One of the things I'm doing is homebrewing a New Barbarian class strictly made for Warforged, which I've decided are going to act more like constructs in my game than Humanoid. Thought I'd share and get some opinions on this! (There will be other homebrew classes unique to some other races, mainly Envoy Warforged, and Changelings)
Warforged - War Machine:
Restriction: Requires Warforged Juggernaut/Skirmisher
HD: Same as Barbarian, 2HP at first level (14 Con at first level)
Proficiencies / Starting items: Simple, Martial Weapons, L.Armor, M.Armor, Shields.
You may start with: a) any Armblade applicable weapon, this is limited to 0 Standard Armblades, or a Greataxe and B) An explorer's pack 3 Javelins
Saving Throws: Con/Str, Proficiency in two of: Athletics, Nature, Arcana, Intimidation, Survival
- Overclock:
As a War Machine, you, as a bonus action, can choose to overclock your body and burst into the fray. This lasts for 2 Minutes, you gain the strength of giants thusly are able to move, hold, destroy things much better (Advantage on strength checks), move 10ft faster, Hit easier and harder (Barbarian table for raging for Atk/Damage bonus), and gain Resistance to Bludgeoning, Piercing and Slashing damage.
However, Enemies are more likely to hit after this overclock ends for 1 hour (-2 -1 to AC post overclock) and your movement speed is lowered by 10ft at the end of this overclock (for 30 minutes) due to the strain on your body, as well as disadvantage is imposed on Dexterity checks for 30 minutes. After overclocking the number of times noted in the barbarian table, you must finish a short rest before being able to overclock again. If you overclock again within the vulnerable period, the penalties do not go away, but do not stack.
- War - Made carapace:
As a 1st level War Machine, your integrated plating is much more effective at deflecting blows, gaining 2 1 to AC.
- Reckless Strikes:
Same as Barbarian, nothing to change here
- First to Fight:
At 2nd level, As a War Machine, you gain double proficiency bonus to Initiative rolls.
- Made from Giants:
You gain an additional ASI ( 1 only) to any singular stat at 3rd, 6th, 10th and 14th level, due to your Creation Forge's Giant ancestry. Scores do not improve above 20 through this method.
At 3rd level, You gain proficiency on checks made versus Giants. At 10th level, you gain Advantage on saving throws vs Giants.
- Ability Score Improvement:
You gain a Full ASI or Optional feat (if using that rule), at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level. This is 2 to any one score or 1 to any two scores.
- Extra Strikes
You gain an Extra attack at 5th level, and an additional attack at 15th level when using the attack action.
- Improved Joints:
At 6th level, When not under the effects of the Heavy carapace integrated armor feature, you gain 10 feet of movement. If Unarmored, this improves by an additional 5 ( 15 total).
- Bred for War
At 7th level, Due to your life of War, You gain initiative advantage, so long as you are not incapacitated or crippled in any way.
- Brutal Strikes
At 9th level, 13th and 17th level, gain an additional die when rolling damage die for a critical. At 17th level, If under the effects of Overclock, add an additional die.
- Unending charger
At 11th Level, When Overclocked, you can ignore grievous damage and continue fighting when lowered to 0HP. This allows you to survive with 1Hp instead, but inflicts a Vulnerable debuff to you (as described in the Overclock table). If already under the effect of Vulnerable, this will stack with said debuff and lasts for same duration. DC for this constitution save is 10 at base, and raises by 10 each time.
This resets after short or long rests.
- Overclock Resistance:
At 15th level, you become so accustomed to the effects of overclock that it's vulnerability only lasts half the duration (30minutes for AC, 15 for Dex/Move disadvantage).
- Indomitable
At 18th Level, your craftsman ship is at its peak, as such, you gain immunity to fear effects and can use your Strength score in place of any Strength check you make, should the check be lower than your score.
- Eberrons Champion
At 20th level, As the effects of War become apparent on your body, you become the pinnacle of the Forge in which you were born. You gain 1 to the effects of Belts of giant Strength, and gain 2 to Strength (max 22), and 4 to Constitution (maximum of 24)
