I've gone into a bit of detail here. My questions are at the bottom
A seller sent me the wrong item, so I started a return. They offered me a partial refund. I responded by saying that they sent the wrong it and they need to give me my money back in full. They sent another message, this time saying that saying that the return postage would be too expensive to be worth it, and that I could keep the item (even though I said in my initial message that the item is of no use to me). My next message was fairly terse, and I just said I'm not paying for their mistake, and ebay will side with me, so they can either give me my money back or wait three days until I can get ebay involved, and ebay will make them give me my money back.
Then I got a "The seller accepted your return" email from ebay, which says:
Good news! Your return request is approved. The seller will provide you with a return postage label to send the item back.
If you don't hear back from the seller, we're available to step in and help beginning 06 Aug, 2019.
That was 2 days ago, and I've heard nothing since. If I log into ebay, all I see at the top of the return details is "The seller approved your request". I'm a little unsure about what's going to happen next. Considering they were already trying to get me to agree to pay part of the cost of something they didn't send, I don't entirely trust them. I'm also confused that the email said I'll be provided with a label when the seller said the postage costs weren't worth it.
It's not very often I have had problems, and usually they just apologize and refund me. There was one other time where something similar to the above exchange happened, but when it got to me saying that ebay will side with me, they just refunded the money, so I've never dealt with returning something before.
So my questions:
Where should I expect to see this return label?
Why do I not see any mention of a return label in my ebay? The only place I see any mention of it is in the email.
Is it possible that the seller just approved the return to placate me, hoping I would forget about it and not bother chasing it up if I don't get a label?
Is it guaranteed that I will get my money back at this stage? I still need the item I ordered, and would like to buy it from somewhere else, but I'm worried maybe they'll end up sending it rather than giving me a refund, or something.
Should I contact ebay on the 6th, per the email, if I don't get a label by then, or is there a good reason why it might take longer for me to get it?
Thanks :)
