I eat unhealthily, I'm looking for ways to get in more nutrients with smoothies (fruit/spinach etc). This is a stepping stone for me from sometimes eating fast food for breakfast, so I don't want to jump to water and chia seed type smoothies, if that makes sense. I know people are going to comment that fruit isn't healthy in general but I'm probably missing a lot of nutrients.
What is your favorite relatively healthy smoothie?
Taste is highly subjective and everyone has their own preferences. So if in one person thinks itās sweet enough with just fruit and another person wants to add something to sweeten it, thereās nothing wrong with that. Deeming something as āunnecessaryā can come across as shaming a personās choice to add honey or agave, especially since itās so hard to convey tone and intention over text. And that doesnāt even begin to discuss potential food waste if someone doesnāt enjoy the smoothie without the sweetener. Iām not saying that this commenter was trying to shame anyone, but someone whoās struggling with disordered eating/ED might be triggered back into harmful behaviors by that type of comment. Just trying to share some info to help educate. Thatās all. āŗļø
You completely missed my point, but like you said, you do you. Glad you donāt struggle with disordered eating or food waste. āŗļø
My favorite lately is mango, banana, spinach, and OJ with a little bit of honey. I do about 1 cup of juice and 3/4 of frozen fruit (way cheaper than fresh) and 2 big handfuls of spinach.
And before the sugar police comment, yes I am aware that OJ has a lot of sugar but so does all fruit. Sugar isnāt the devil! Thereās no way to completely cut out sugar/carbs. They exist in pretty much every food item, so we canāt eliminate them but we can make smart choices about natural sugars versus refined sugars. āŗļø

Iād argue that itās more important that you enjoy what youāre eating than it is to avoid carbs. Plus agave or honey is a much better option than a highly refined sugar and in tandem with whole fruits and vegetables, Iād argue itās justified and harmless. A constant fixation on carbs, sugars, fats, etc. can trigger or lead to eating disorders. You never know what someone else is struggling with. āŗļøā¤ļø
