I teach one class in the morning. After that, I have 4 "open" blocks to provide ESL services for 50 ELs. I do push-in and also I pull students to work on assignments. I do not have rotating groups, like I used to. Mainly, I find it's not really sustainable to keep pulling students from their core or elective classes. They don't all have PE or a study hall. Even pulling them from art causes problems. So, I pull on an as needed basis. I do have papers to grade, lessons to plan, and parents to call. But, today I got the feeling that I really didn't have that much "work" to do, and I felt guilty. The regular classroom teachers get paid just as much as I do, and they each have 3 or 4 classes full of loud, rebellious students. I literally have 2 or 3 students at a time, and we quietly work on assignments for their classes.
