How often do you trust your spellcheckers when you type down something and know that other speakers would probably understand you, but your spellchecker makes up suggestions it's not correct?
E.g. My spellchecker doesn't like when I use too much passive voice like a ''to be -ed verb form,'' and it gives suggestions it's wrong. The other thing I wanted to talk about is abbreviation. In abbreviations like ''I.g. or i.e.'' my spellchecker constantly highlights they have ''bad punctuation.'' So, most spellcheckers let you choose the English variant you type with. Either BrE or AmE. The so-called ''premium spellcheckers'' missed the fact Americans often punctuate after abbreviations like ''Eg or IE.''
Also, when I use ''looking'' in the context of wanting to find something without pronouns like ''I'' it makes up suggestions on my fluency. But I've seen thousands of people writing like that, and I never thought it was wrong. I also noticed speakers using ''been'' without ''have.'' Do you guys feel spellcheckers make incorrect suggestions?
