Region Wars IX EU: Saturday 18th March 2017 @ 8:00PM GMT
EU Region Wars will be taking place this Saturday (18th) from 8:00PM GMT. You are expected to be present before this time so that there is no delay in getting started.
Due to a high number of signups, we will be splitting up into two groups: UK (6 teams) and everyone else (7 teams). Each group will have an internal round robin, with the top 2 from each progressing to the playoffs. The #1 team in Group A will play the #2 team in Group B, and vice versa. The semi-finals will be a single game of two halves (10 minutes each half). The EU Region Wars Final will use the pick/ban best-of-three system (8 minutes each half).
Teams in Group B (UK) will play 10 minute games, whereas Group A will play 8 minute games. This is to accommodate the extra team in Group A, and therefore the extra rounds.
As part of the map vote, you were asked whether Neutral Flag should be played in Region Wars - 44% said yes. However, as a strong majority was required for Neutral Flag maps to be present in Region Wars, they will not feature.
The seven maps to be played in EU Region Wars are, in order of rank:
- Market
- Pilot
- Atomic
- EMERALD
- Transilio
- Scorpio
- Smirk
These maps make up the seven rounds for Group A (first five for Group B), and the seven maps available in the pick/ban of the final. The semi-finals will be a free choice by each team to pick one of the above maps for their half. The first team to pick their map in the semi-finals is the highest ranked team.
The teams for EU Region Wars IX can be found here.
If captains of teams with multiple regions/very generalised could let me know of a better name to represent them, that would be great.
