We need help. Thatâs the bottom line. I am not good at coming up with the right terminology but I think we NEED to collectively contact our representatives. We need a voice and we need someone to help us.
Back in 2020, we had no choices. We were forced en masse to close our businesses. But small business owners donât usually have people on retainer to rush and fill out forms so by the time we applied for PPP it was gone. Leaving us with the unwelcome choice between losing our businesses (and everything else when we went broke) or taking on EIDL loans. Not much of a choice.
Covid recovery was NOT a matter of âeverythingâs open againâ and all is well. Working from home, schooling from home, and subsequent reduced spending and skyrocketing supply costs kept us all scrambling. Most of us still are.
Now the time has come to repay these loans we were forced to take. And the SBA canât even have its shit together enough to send accurate information or log payments clearly made on the portal. Theyâre supposed to auto withdraw my payment today. Still waiting for that to happen but I did get a âyouâre delinquentâ call.
We have no voice right now. No one is helping us. Weâre struggling and weâre scrambling and we need someone to help us. Ironic considering all that âsupport small businessâ talk during Covid.
"Templet" letters are not as effective as "real" letters IMHO.
Literally just writing out how the EIDL is a burden to your business, family, etc., is the best way to go.
And calling your reps. Just lay it out to the person you talk to.
For me my business is not failing. But...it never recoverd from covid and the rising inflation and increased cost of living.
I'm making the sane as I did 3 years ago and EVERYTHING has gone up and especially my material costs that i use fircmy products I make.
So I just tell them that. I say if my business would have not been damaged by the shut down, abd I was able to grow my sales I could afford to pay back the loan.
Now I have to choose between food, mortgage, etc and the EIDL.
I makecit clear I will most likely have to file bankruptcy soon if something is not done and then they will definitely get nothing from me.
