Post Body

Hi guys! Sorry if this has been asked already, but what happens to your benefit if you "refuse" to go back to work?

Scenario: I was laid off due to shortage of work from a chain restaurant on March 16th, applied for EI and have since been receiving EIERB(?) ($500 a week). As of next week my employer is set to resume dine in operations and has emailed staff asking who wants to come back. I personally feel restrictions are being lifted too early for restaurant and because of my mom's health (high risk for literally everything) I do not feel safe going back to work. I told my employer that currently I do not plan to return to work for the time being but so plan to return there when I feel it is safe to do so.

So will I continue to receive my benefit until I go back to work? Or is it because I'm "refusing" to work I won't get benefits?
