Hi r/edm! Welcome to the next installment of the Weekly Featured Artist Post. Our featured artist this week is Sumthin Sumthin!
LA-based producer Sumthin Sumthin has an ear for the experimental: his tracks feature wonky, synthetic sound design and samples and an unorthodox take on more minimalist trap beats. On the flip side, Sumthin Sumthin has shown aptitude for more emotion-laden, lush future bass tracks while still maintaining his flair for the experimental. Sumthin Sumthin has continually pushed the boundaries of the saturated trap genre in new and exciting directions.
Sumthin Sumthinās productions simultaneously exude squeaky-clean and gritty, minimalistic sound palettes, and caught the attention of Quality Good Records label-boss and trap pioneer UZ. He toured on UZās Rebirth tour as support and has released an EP on the record, generating substantial buzz in the online trap community. To get a taste of Sumthin Sumthinās eclectic, fresh sound, check out the following tracks:
Sumthin Sumthin & Lemay - Stunt
Sumthin Sumthin - Moves ft. Snowy
What are your favorite tracks? Least favorite? Favorite Sets or mixes? What would you like to see from the artist moving forward? Who would you like to see them collaborate with? Anything else youād like to add? Discuss!
