This is my first time on this reddit probably won't be back apart from replying to any replies which may come through. I'm not really a big EDM fan, there's the occasional new release I like which I hear in someone's live stream and there's the good old prodigy and pendulum (pre knife party).

The reason I am posting this is simple, I have strong issues with s large portion of EDM fans who post things all over social media about it. Let me explain myself, I have seen on multiple occasions people retweet quote pictures like "EDM is the best genre, it helped so many people like me through tough times". Now before you say I'm a cold hearted so and so (not sure what the rules on swearing is on this reddit) I will elaborate. They act as if EDM is the first genre and only genre to ever help people, that couldn't be any further from the truth. There are many examples of people who listened to other genres which helped them, one example being me. I went through a tough patch, and I felt as if there was nothing for me. All I had was YouTube and my Xbox console. Then I started listening to rock and metal music, and the lyrics matched the stuff I was thinking, I was no longer alone since others were feeling the same as me, I became happier from this point on allowing me to get my priorities straight and get a girlfriend as well. The music it's self was also lively (is that a term?) and just filled me with energy, energy I hadn't felt before. However. I didn't create a raging storm about it, spamming the Internet with horrid quotes about a genre of music that helped people. I just accepted it helped me and continued to listen to it. The people who repost those quotes are just so annoying to me they seem ignorant as if they don't pay attention to the rest of the society, how other genres help people. They all assume EDM is an almighty creation and is the true God (exaggerating there but the point applies).

All in all, I'm sick and tired of people forgetting about other genres and classing EDM as something special when it's the same as other music really, something to make you think about other things and something to make you feel welcomed. That's all.
