Opinions on Serra Ascendant?

Does anyone else feel that Serra Ascendant should be errataed to say "if your life is 10 above your starting life total, it gets 5/ 5 and flying?" I know a bunch of LGS that use that house rule, but ours is adamant on not changing the ban list in any way. It seems silly that a player should have that kind of advantage on turn 1, especially limited to that color. Am I alone in this?
