Hello friends!
I recently started working in my center's 2 year old room where there is a little girl in my care that will grab markers and bite the tip of the marker until the ink squirts out leaving it all over her face/mouth area (thankfully the markers are non-toxic Crayola washables). However when she is redirected away from the markers, she goes back to the art area and attempts to place tempera paint and/or glue sticks in her mouth to eat as well.
My fellow co-teachers say that this is a regular occurrence for her and that they often find her exhibiting this behavior so it's relatively "normal" for her to do this.
I was honestly wondering what y'all's opinion on this behavior is and what could possibly be the cause. I did some research of my own but I just want some personal opinions before I reach out to my directors and/or the child's parents.
TIA!
