IEC 60853 - CYMCAP - load factor
Post Body

Currently performing a study for a solar farm using CYMCAP. Solar farms have a typical bell curve load profile and I'm trying to get more out of the cables instead of just rating it for the peak load. I've hit a wall with understanding the load factor input within CYMCAP however. By definition the load factor is the ratio of the average loads over the peak load. For cyclic loading I'm using IEC-60853 solution method. Now when reviewing the transient solution solving for ampacity given time and temperature the multiplying factor does not correspond with the M factor in IEC. I setup the example problem in IEC section 7.1 in CYMCAP and the results are not the same. It's concerning me that I cannot replicate the results. Are you meant to input the loss-load factor instead? When I do this the results are a lot closer.

Also I noted that when the load factor is around 0.65 the multiplier is low and when the load factor is say 0.9 the multiplier is high. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Something is a miss here. Any ideas on what is going on?
