Why did ea remove GM contracts?

In NHL 14 I believe was the last year when you started your gm mode you were on a 3 year contract with a team then had the option to re-sign getting rid of signing with a team and having to staying with them for the 25 years of the gm mode and to be honest around year 10 when you have a super team it gets boring just simming the season to get to the playoff because your team is already set for the playoff by October... I get you can get contracts and fired for owner mode but why not just plain gm mode. I personally don’t care for owner mode
