Tips for ranked
Post Body

I finally got to div 20, after extreme suffering, and here are some tips I would had liked to hear before. Iā€™ll try to divide in three major categories; General, striking and grappling.

General:

First off, I openly say I avoid wmma divisions and flyweight, I just donā€™t feel powerful, fast or durable enough to even try. I play all the others, my best recommendation is to go with grapplers with decent striking for lower weight classes and with strikers with decent grappling for higher ones, these are the ones I recommend for every weight class:

FLW: I use Royval when Iā€™m forced to play, at least he is rangey and has decent health (100 cardio).

BW: Mostly Merab and Aljo, but I prefer Merab.

FW: If youā€™re okay with short range try Volk, otherwise; Ortega feels extremely powerful.

LW: I think like Tony is the only perfectly balanced fighter in the division, but at least give khabib a shot, heā€™s fun to use.

WW: Nate fucking has it all except for minimum takedown capability. Best 1-2 in the game, best chin there is, great subs and great speed, nothing to add.

MW: The only correct answer is Sean, great cardio and 5 star jab and straight, ground game is acceptable.

LHW: Jan is a solid option, but in all honesty thereā€™s only one Jonny Bones Jones.

HW: Bas, Aspinall and Jon are equally solid choices, Aspinall feels absurdly powerful, give him a shot.

Important: Try to avoid 135 ping

Striking: Thereā€™s a lot to unwrap here, this are the best recommendations I can think of:

Pick your shots, each one of them.

Manage your distance and decide if youā€™re going with boxing, kickboxing or any other choice, and use your shots accordingly.

Spinning kick is your best friend for this, watch your stamina and work the legs.

Stay away from calf kicks and leg kicks in 3 rounders, but work the oblique kicks in 5 rounders.

ALWAYS, go for the double leg after you rock your opponent, will land in side control.

Donā€™t be afraid to look for a doctor stoppage if the fight is looking uphill.

Most players have a tendency for head movement, study your opponent and do this:

Block a jab and slips the cross: Go for the ā€œcar crash elbowā€ when they come in, best choice.

Ducks back the upper/hooks: ALWAYS get the body uppercut.

Ducks down: If youā€™re brave enough, flying knee; if not, body uppercut will knock down and normal one will rock.

Grappling:

Iā€™ll divide this one in offensive player and defensive player.

Defensive:

Be dangerous from the bottom, chase subs and reversals to keep your opponent guessing, watch your stamina.

In early moments of the fight, do not block ground and pound, head movement might land you in a dominant position with a big stamina advantage.

Look for rubber guard from bottom half guard, always pre deny down, will hit 90% of the time.

Do not try anything but half guard from bottom sprawl, thereā€™s no point.

Improve sub game, (fakes, struggle)

Offensive:

Your best ally will be denial to sub, here are my favorites:

Side control to arm triangle when opponent goes up.

Top Sprawl to guillotine when ā€œā€

Top half guard to kimura when opponent tries back taking.

Top back side to arm triangle when opponent tries heel hooks.

ALWAYS rush these ones, youā€™ll most likely get them.

If you rock a guy from top full mount, you can rush an armbar, use it constantly.

This is all I can think about of rn, but if anyone has any specific question, feel free to ask.
