Is There A Way To Make Be A Pro Career Mode More Realistic?

Career Mode, where you create your own player. Is there any way to make this mode a bit more challenging and realistic. Starting as an 18 year old, within a couple seasons you are worth too much for clubs to sign you, and your stats rise so much you are expected to perform with a 9.0 average, basically be the top goalscorer.

I try to make a sort of journeyman style of career but just keep hitting these impossible roadblocks.

Is there any way anyone knows how to make this mode more realistic by reducing how quick your stats/value rise?
