Why do evolutions require rivals wins aswell??

Don't get me wrong, I understand evolutions requiring a fair bit of time for some, and I get some costing money, but I'm doing the cryzan evo chain rn, and its already like 300k god knows how many games (like 40 ??). Why on earth do I then have to go into rivals and put up with even more bs to try and upgrade this guy. Running an 81 striker in div 3/2 is absolutely brutal. It'd be different if it was just play rivals, but win rivals while also scoring and assisting in same games etc??
