What are you looking for when trying to green time?

Hi I’m new to FIFA and am having a hard time learning how to green time. I used to play a lot of 2K and in that game a green release would happen if you time your shot with the players release. Is it similar in FIFA where you just time it with when the player hits the ball? Sorry if it’s a noob question.
