Why does my AHL team always do so bad?

I’ve made sure I have chemistry on lines, had players all above 70 on the team, but for some reason the team does awful and my players aren’t growing. Could the coach affect the team this much? I’ve been having a lot of trouble growing players this year and I can’t figure out why.
