Week 4 Takeaways
Post Body

Here are my top 5 takeaways from this weekā€™s slate and feel free to add on with your own takes these are what I felt were the most important from the games I was able to watch.

  1. CEH Resurgence. Throughout the offseason, Clyde Edwards-Helaire was a player that had the fantasy community split. People, myself included, were high on him as a high end RB2 with potential for a breakout season, while others thought heā€™s a JAG and wonā€™t contribute much. Throughout the first 2 weeks, CEH struggled, in terms of getting touches and doing something with those touches, and everyone started thinking his value is shot. Fast forward to now, and his value is on the rise again.

Back to back weeks of over 100 yards rushing, back to back weeks of a receiving TD. Since the ravens game, heā€™s looked sharper, had a quicker first step, and has forced missed tackles time and time again. Yes Darrell Williams still gets goal line work in terms of rushing TDā€™s but itā€™s great to see how the chiefs are including Clyde more and more and itā€™s making their offense that more dynamic and less predictable. Only time will tell how itā€™ll shape out ROS.

2.) Zekeā€™s apparent ā€œdemiseā€ being overstated. Throughout all off-season until week 2, the majority thought on Zeke was that heā€™s lost a step, no longer an explosive bell cow, and that Pollard was slowly but surely stealing the show and taking over. Wonder how those same people feel now? Back to back weeks of Zeke posting RB1 numbers. He has scored at least one rushing TD the last 2 games and has gotten more and more touches, while Pollard has been getting less and less.

This week Zeke had his first 100 rushing yard game of the season, including the longest run since his rookie year with the 47 yard rush. Zeke has said throughout all of training camp that heā€™s in the best shape of his life, and weā€™re seeing that now. I expect him to continue his high level production.

3.) David Montgomery. After being underwhelming in weeks 2 and 3, Monty came out guns blazing in week 4. 23 rushes for 106 yards and 2 TDs, he was literally trucking defenders left and right nobody on that Lions D was able to hold him. The injury was scary, but thankfully doesnā€™t seem like a season ender for now. Once he gets back on that field itā€™s only gonna keep getting better for Monty.

4.) The Jetsā€™ and Giantsā€™ offense. Wow, what a game for both New York teams. Both down, then come back and win in overtime. Itā€™s been a brutal year for both offenses fantasy wise, so maybe this week can help kickstart some movement for them.

Starting with the Giants, Daniel Jones has continued to improve and show more and more of what heā€™s made of. First 400 passing yard game of his career, the Saints defense ( ranked 4th in the league via PFF ) were getting sliced and diced by him. He is not a fluke in my opinion, Danny Dimes has arrived. He may not be a QB1, but as currently QB12, he holds really good QB2 value especially in superflex leagues. Kenny Golladay FINALLY broke through and had his best game as a Giant. His first 100 receiving yard game since week 7 of last year, it was nice to see him make the most of his targets and do his damage down the field. The giants paid him WR1 money for games like today, so letā€™s hope he can build on this to provide more consistent FLEX to mid WR2 value, and ofc thereā€™s Saquon Barkley. Seems like heā€™s going to get the full workload in the passing game from here on out, with 7 targets in back to back games. Once he gets going in the run game, heā€™ll be back to being a high end RB1. Despite still averaging around 50-60 rushing yards a game, I do believe his buy low window has closed with back to back weeks of 20 fantasy points.

Now as for the Jets, I may be a Jets fan but while I am happy with the win, thereā€™s still a lot of questions. From the second half onward the Jets offense was near perfection. Zach Wilson and company were getting the ball down the field. The run game caught momentum, led by Michael Carter and Tevin Coleman, which helped the play action game. Fantasy wise it seems that both Crowder and Davis can coexist as WR2-FLEX options. Itā€™s just a matter of consistency. My biggest question will be can Wilson make the non big plays, he still struggles with short to intermediate plays like slant routes and curls and out routes. Having a big arm is a good trait to have, but that doesnā€™t mean you should be limited to only big plays.

5.) Mac Jones. He absolutely slaughtered the Buccaneersā€™ secondary. He showed poise and made the right reads time and time again. That backfield is still a mess but Jakobi Meyers is looking like his favorite target, which gives him WR3 relevance. The fact that it took a dumb playcall at the end of the game for him to not beat the GOAT and the defending champs show that he is it. Pats fans should be happy, their future is bright with this young man.
