[Discussion] Twitter Resources: Favorite Twitter Analysts to Follow
Author Summary

Post Body

Thereā€™ve been a ton of offseason threads asking about podcast content in the fantasy scene, but we as a sub havenā€™t really touched much on twitter content. Twitter is an awesome source for dynasty content and analysis, and itā€™s one of the best communities out there for this fantasy format. In the Dynasty Movement discord, we were recently discussing some of our favorite twitter follows ā€“ below are some recommendations for those looking to dip their toes into the twittersphere but find the number of twitter analysts out there overwhelming (and some reasoning for why you might enjoy following them):

@DFBeanCounter: frequent poster here to r/dynastyff with an analytical approach to scouting players. He provides much more context and insight into his approach to analysis than most of the analytics community and is very active in responding to questions. If you like deep dives into analysis, this might be your guy. (disclaimer: I am not a Patreon subscriber, so I can only speak to his freely available content)

@MattWaldman: great film analyst, heā€™s a contributor at The Football Guys (highly recommend their podcast The Audible) and producer of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio (RSP). I think heā€™s one of the best film analysts because he clearly defines his process (the RSP includes pages of specific granular scouting on various specific characteristics of each player) and he makes a concerted effort to identify his misses and how they fit into and drive the revision of his scouting process. For twitter, heā€™s one of the best ā€œshow, not tellā€ film analysts. Most self-proclaimed film analysts will not provide strong evidence for their evaluation of players ā€“ Waldman will go in depth with clips and longer videos in his Boiler Room series to show you how he arrived at his conclusions. (disclaimer: I have purchased the RSP the past few years and find it to be great content as well)

@Cooper_DFF: Cooper is one of the analytics-oriented accounts that truly offers something unique in his data visualizations. He goes beyond just looking at things like BMI/BOA etc. (which have been done again and again) and really dives into more interesting statistics with the intent of really identifying how and why players are able to win and produce on the field. Heā€™s also one of the few analysts that shares his findings and projects as works in progress ā€“ itā€™s really interesting to see some of the work he is doing that hasnā€™t yet been fully finished, but can still yield some interesting ideas/questions.

@MiKeMeUpP: entertaining personality but he does some good analysis and asks some important questions too. I think of particular interest is his insight into the behavioral economics of dynasty leagues ā€“ not enough content focuses on this aspect of fantasy. He does a good job of identifying errors in decision-making, understanding trade negotiations, and sifting through bullshit information and narratives. (disclaimer: I am neither a Patreon sub nor a BDGE subscriber so I canā€™t speak to that content)

@_TanHo: creator of DynastyProcess and the DynastyProcess Trade Calculator, heā€™s a great follow if you have any interest in understanding analytics/statistics/modeling. Also, he streams his process on twitch ā€“ particularly a good follow if youā€™re interested in starting your own content creation using modeling tools. Only downside is he is a fan of light mode discord.

Tom Kislingbury @Tom Kislingbury: if youā€™re into IDP at all, Tom does a great job at understanding this side of the ball for fantasy purposes. He recently broke down all 2020 defenses to give a better understanding of scheme and player tendencies and how players were used in those systems. Anyone who currently plays in IDP or wants to get into this format will learn a lot from him.

Honorable mentions so this thread doesnā€™t get stupidly long:

Kent Weyrauch

Tyler Justin Karp

Jax Falcone

Dave Kluge

Peter Howard

AngeloFF

JJ Zachariason

Jordan Rains

Sigmund Bloom

Dynasty Masters

Ryan McDowell

I know Iā€™m missing a ton more ā€“ feel free to share your favorite follows so this thread can be a resource!
