First year dynasty league, I am not the commissioner. Everyone in the league knows eachother, some more than others but we are all connected in some way or another. The league has been going great until today. After the draft we didnt discuss many additional rules, but the commissioner of our league has done a great job of not meddling or vetoeing anything. Basically if your a taco its on you.

After the draft was finished, we started a group chat and discussed some rules for the league but we didnt actually hold any "official vote" on any of them. One of the rules was that each week the lowest scoring team had to pay the top scoring team $10 - a small fraction of what the total buy in is - but the goal was to stop teams from tanking and keep everybody involved the whole year. No one had any issues with it and everyone decided that the pay rule was going to go into effect, although again there was never any "official vote" on it, it was discussed at length in the group chat and no one spoke up against it.

Every week, the lowest scoring team has paid up. The first two weeks it was actually the Commissioner who had to pay cuz his 1st pick was JT and his team is terrible. Fast forward to after week 5, it's the first time this team has scored the lowest points. Commissioner gave ample time for the payment to be made, gave multiple reminders to this team, and then finally wrote up a lengthy warning in the group chat that said next years draft picks were going to be at risk if he does not pay today. This guy blew up. Said that we never officially voted and the rule was made after the season started and that he shouldnt have to pay bc it was made midseason and that it must be all of our first time playing Dynasty to pull shit like this. He claims he would have drafted differently had he known about the rule and that its not fair. He also claims we made official on Sept 9th (which is a weak argument bc that's literally one day after the Week 1 Thursday night game and he had 0 players who played Week 1 Thursday.)

The guy had the 1st overall pick in the draft and he definitely drafted to win. The dude has JJ, D Smith, Chubb, Tua, Kittle, Deebo and then has LaPorta and Stroud in his taxi. Personally I told the commissioner we should boot him at the end of the year and give his team to someone else bc it's not like he has a bad team.

Are we being unreasonable? Or is this guy just an asshole?

Edit: appreciate the advice on here. Thanks to the very few of you who weren’t insulting and actually tried to give advice. To the others that are happy to not be in our league, great, you guys don’t sound like a lot of fun either. Commissioner had a long talk with problem guy and result is we’re probably tabling the rule until next year.
