I'll admit that I am a new DM. Ive sort of toyed around with the idea of putting in my own Homebrew things for the parts of the Mad Mage's Dungeon that aren't listed. Some ideas I had were mirrors that transported players to either secret caches of items, or possibly places where the Mad Mage would visit to get things for his Dungeon (leaving the "Gate" behind to visit it later, forgetting it exists, or maybe a cave collapse and no one can get to it very easily). This would let me try and flex my own Homebrews and let me try to create some of my own world building pieces and try to get a feel for "real" DMing (not necessarily "canned" campaigns, more so focus so on Homebrewed content, different PC plot hooks or PC backstory pieces, stuff like that)
The Source book is honestly HUGE and very intimidating atm, having started in WDH and moving soon to the Mad Mage, I'm just wondering what people think of this and if they have any tips or tricks (or "rules", like technically the "teleportation" use in the Dungeon is a 'no go' zone sort of thing) to help me do this.
TIA!
