Hey guys, I am running a horror campaign for my players, and I’m running into one issue. I figure that some of the best horror is fear of the unknown and allowing the dread to build to its inevitable climax, but I am finding it difficult to build that when PC’s can generally see what’s going on around them, losing some of the mystery and suspense of what is hunting them. I have used small instances of magical darkness to try and build the tension, get the players lost and wandering in an area etc, but I feel like using that over and over removes both agency from the players since darkvision exists for a reason, and because it just gets cliche after a while. Any ideas or advice would be most welcome!
