I ordered a model kit based on one of my all-time favorite video game franchises recently. Even though I'm completely new to model making, I was wondering is there a group that actively organises meetups to assemble and/or paint models? Maybe even share paints or tips? I reckon I can follow the guides just fine, but I would like my model to have a bit of detail (camo pattern, rust, scorch marks) and I have very little experience with painting!

I'm aware there's a few model shops located around the city who might organize tabletop tournaments or workshops, (Warhammer/Games Workshop, Gamers World, Marks Models, Underworld Gaming, etc.). However, none of these events are advertised online as far as I can see.

Any model making hobbyists out there with insider information? Thanks in advance!
