Is there a story behind the benches in Portobello?
Post Body

Most (all?) of the benches lining the canal from Portobello to Harold's Cross seem to have a quote in English and something written in an non-Latin script. It looks like Georgian to me but I could be very wrong there. The first time I noticed it I assumed it was a dedication to a specific person but all of the benches seem to have it so it seems unlikey. I've attached a picture of one. Anyone have any ideas?
